Is that foreshortened? I always assumed they were longer like the Kadeshi motherships from Homeworld.
The ship is laying at an angle to the camera’s point of view, with the bow being closer than the stern of the ship, which gives it a foreshortened look in the thumbnail. Enlarged, it is clear(er) that the ship is coming about towards the camera.
